Saturn V booster rocket

Back in the mid to late 1980s (I think it was about 1987) I went on a trip to south Florida. I was living in London, Ontario at the time and flew down to Tampa from Toronto, a flight which included a champagne breakfast. One of the stops was the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral. I never realized how big the Saturn V rocket was until I saw it laid out on the ground. The above photo is of the booster rocket. You can see someone taking a photo which should give you some idea of its size. I'll have more photos once I've scanned the colour slides. This will take some time since I'm working during the week when time is limited. Meantime, enjoy this one! - V

Hi,

Funny what you say and lucky are you to have seen this piece of a Saturn 5 ..

I've always be there to see and get documented on the space adventure.
Saw the John Glenn take off on black and white TV set that the hotel manager had put in the hall of our hotel because we were moving.
I never missed the steps done in Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle and more...

I'm eager to see the other pics you're going to put here...

CHEERS from a space fan....
(Star Trek fan too..LoL)

I have followed the American and Russian efforts in space since the early 1960s. I even remember President John F. Kennedy making his speech about being on the moon by the time the decade was out.

As for this photo, I purposely took the photo with the guy in the picture so people would get a perspective on how large the booster actually was.

I too am a long-time Star Trek fan (the old one especially!) and remember seeing all sorts of sci-fi movies over the years.

More photos are coming up very soon! - Volker
