Christmas is coming

On the way home this evening I made an early Christmas purchase before the good plants are gone. The photo was taken just after I gave the plant a good soaking. Its a little over a month before Christmas and then shortly after that the year is over and we start 2009. Have a good week! - Volker

I love giving plants as gifts. Whenever I'm invited to functions during the holidays, I always arrive with a bottle of wine and a poinsetta. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

I have had a love for plants and other living things for a very long time, and with Christmas coming up fast, I thought this would add some colour to the place before Brad finally does arrive. We can start counting the days (its your choice as to which)!!! - Volker

Sorry to be a crankypants, but I loathe pointsettas... I like Xmas, I just can't seem to get rid of pointsettas come heck or high water. They are sooooo virulent, like a weed. The best way I have found to get rid of them is to put them outside in -40 weather. :P

I like them and only got this one to colour up the place a bit. Its rather dull and drab otherwise. I was actually looking for an Italian Cypress but could only find the green ones. I personally love the ones with the greenish-blue foliage, so I'll have to keep looking. The one I had back in Ontario grew to about a meter high and was left with the new owners of the house. I used to dress up the tree for Christmas as it was brought in over winter but otherwise kept outside from spring to autumn. - Volker

Happy Holidays to you too! Hope you get to enjoy them at home this year. As for the pic, thanks. A really good camera helps a lot but then the colour red is great in a photo anyway! - Volker

'Tis the season, as they say! I guess all this may have to do with the season and the emotion that is evoked. After all, it is a time when we get together with family and friends, exchange gifts and so on. If we could only keep this going throughout the year, that would be great, but Christianity is not alone in its icons since all religious persuasions have them! Enjoy the day and your preparations for the season!!! - Volker
