On the home front the poinsettia I bought for last Christmas is still growing strong now that its nine months since I bought it. It looks like it may make it through another Yuletide! And while we're on the subject of plants, the pineapple plant [Ananas] that I started from a crown cutting some time ago is doing very well too. The trick now is to get it to flower and produce fruit! - V

A ripening apple, or as I learned today from people that grow and take care of all sorts of plants for a living, a ripening banana, put into a large clear plastic bag will release gases that will encourage the pineapple to flower and produce fruit. I usually have both kinds of fruit at home, so this seems far easier than any other method. - V
